K-Pop singing and dancing tutorials will be posted
The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chennai has announced that as part of the celebrations of the 4th Korean Cultural Week, online tutorials on K-Pop singing and dancing will be released starting Friday.
For this initiative, the Dream K-Pop Girls, a team of five students, will share their video tutorial lessons on social media. They will talk about their journey with K-Pop and their interest in Korean culture, and showcase their own singing and dancing techniques, as seen in K-Pop songs. Through this, they aim to get more people interested in expressing their talents and creativity through K-Pop.
The members of Dream K-pop Girls had previously managed to win a series of K-pop contests held across the country. They are Rhea Rajkumar, third year MBBS student at Madras Medical College; R. Sruthi, graduate in business economics; Subiksha Priyal, first year fashion design student; Sindhoo Dhana, software engineer; and Jeson Dagam, third year medical student.
In a press release, the consulate said the move was seen as the first attempt to “Indianize” K-Pop song and dance by the younger generation of India. Hong-yup Lee, Deputy Consul General, said they were proud to present this Korean Cultural Week event with young Indian people.
The video tutorials can be found on Instagram under the nickname @dream___kpop and on YouTube on the Dream Kpop 2020 channel. People who share these videos or add comments have a chance to win prizes. Screenshots of these can be sent to [email protected]
