FSUSD offers an alternative to in-person instruction

Fairfield, CA – The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District returns to full in-person learning on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. The district recognizes that every family is not yet ready to return to a physical school setting. FSUSD continues to meet families where they are by offering an independent study program in addition to an in-person learning environment.

As directed by Assembly Bill 130, families who do not want their students to participate in an in-person learning environment have the option of enrolling in FSUSD’s independent study program. Students enrolled in Transitional Kindergarten through Grade 8 can register for the Virtual Academy through the district website at http://www.fsusd.org/VA. Families of students in grades 9-12 can apply to participate in the independent study program by contacting their resident high school from August 2.

Students who have opted for these virtual learning settings will benefit from teaching time comparable to that of students learning in the traditional setting. Transitional Kindergarten to Grade 8 students will receive synchronous or live daily instruction. Students in grades 9 to 12 will receive weekly synchronous instruction. For more information on options and student rights regarding the Virtual Academy or Independent Study, please visit http://www.fsusd.org.
